Sophie Young-”Waiting For The Sun”
Montreal singer/songwriter Sophie Young has been perfecting her craft since the late 1990s. With her first band, Modern Stories, Young toured throughout North America, opening for the likes of Moist and Men at Work, while gathering a fan base in her hometown of Montreal and beyond. Though Modern Stories disbanded in 2002, Young has continued to write and record in her home studio. In January of 2002, her efforts won her top honors in the regional contingent of the National Songwriting Competition with the song “Waiting for the Sun” which got heavy rotation on Montreal’s MIX 96 radio station. Young’s blend of catchy vocal melodies and thoughtful, visually-oriented lyrics, recount stories of love, lost friendships, life’s ups and downs and how each of us copes with different situations thrown at us. Each of Young’s songs uncover a drive and a sense of hope, even in the darkest of times. Look for her debut self-titled album featuring her radio hit “Waiting for the Sun” at fine music stores near you.
