The Phill Botting Band-Walking Through a Valley

The Phill Botting Band is built around Phill Botting’s vocals and Steve Fenton’s writing. Their core members include Phill Botting lead vocals, Steve Fenton on piano and keys, Guitar and backing vocals. Rob Davidson on drums, Ben Herbert on Lead Guitar, Jeff Stowe on bass and Les Miles on Sax.

Phill Botting was born in Hamilton, Ontario and was gifted with a naturally earthy but polished country style voice. Phill is Canada’s vocal inflection king, winning the nationally televised 2008 CMT Chevy Karaoke Star Competition. Some of Phill’s influences include Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, and Steven Curtis Chapman. Our first live concert held at Hamilton Place on February 2, 2010 was a great success. We were Joined on stage by Bob Doidge, Amy King, Laura Klassen (member of COC), Andrea Fenton, Doug Johnson and the Gateway Community Orchestra. The Phill Botting Band partnered with Living Rock Ministries and their 8th Annual Soupfest before our concert in an effort to raise awareness and funds for youth-at-risk in the Hamilton area.

Steve Fenton was born in Midland, Ontario and has been involved with music his whole life. Beginning with piano at a young age, Steve has expanded his music abilities to include playing guitar and bass. Steve is our core song writer and has co-written songs with Phill Botting for our first CD. Steve’s favorite event of the year is looking after the Gateway Caledonia Church Easter music production where he gives anyone (whether they play professionally, are a little rusty, or maybe have just started playing) the chance to showcase their talents on stage for the community.

Steve and Phill worked closely with internationally acclaimed Producer Bob Doidge with engineering by Amy King to complete their CD entitled “Weekend Train” released in Feb 2010.

The Phill Botting Band’s song “Our Soldiers Home” was played on several mainstream radio stations in Ontario even before their CD was completed. They have a passion for their faith and their local Church, Gateway Caledonia.
