Miss Gold
Miss Gold, born Melanie Goldman, is a pop artist from Toronto, Canada. Her influences include Kelly Clarkson, Whitney Houston, Pink, and Katy Perry which can clearly be heard in Miss Gold’s debut single “Insane” taken from her forthcoming full length CD due for release in the spring of 2010.
Mel, Miss Gold also credits her family as a notable influence. Music was a major part of her childhood, her family all loved to sing and would encourage her wherever they went to sing in public. Her father influenced her to listen to artists such as: Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Janis Joplin and study how they influenced a nation of people through their talent. They inspired her to start singing in music class and later heading projects in school such as Jazz/Pop choir.
It was in the clubs that she began to shine doing such things as performing for the mayor of Toronto, David Miller and performing in front of her entire high school on several occasions showcasing her talent. Throughout high school into university Miss Gold sung her way through a variety of talent shows and went on to compete and rank in the top five in her university-wide contests by the names of “Western Idol” and “Huron Idol.”
Her accomplishments provided her with an opportunity to team up with local Toronto band Soul Plane, where she contributed heavily to their successful episode on Much Music’s reality series “Disband”, in 2008. In the process of the show Miss Gold got to work with and get advice from other artists such as rap artist Bishop, Lead singer of Treble Charger and one of Canada’s top music professionals Greig Nori and an artist who has toured with artists such as Nelly Furtado, Sokrates.
Miss Gold now has her sites set on the top of the charts as a solo artist. She is looking to sing her way into the hearts of the new generation of female youth. Hooking up with the boys signed to Interscope Records “The Midway State” and teaming up with the very talented artist and skillful songwriter Adam Strong leading the songs, Miss Gold has created a musical repertoire of the highest standard.
“I decided early on that I didn’t care as much if the world loved me and my music, but as long as I loved myself the rest would all be a bonus,” Miss Gold explains in regards to her life goals for her music career. “I decided that I was going to be me to the fullest extent. My songs were going to discuss relationships I’ve had, things I’ve dealt with, and even the stuff that embarrasses me
